The Art of Embodiment - Movement, Mindfulness, & Creative Flow
DATE: Sunday, May 18, 2025
TIME: 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM
FACILITATOR: Ashley Sonson and Daune Marie
In these 1 ½ hour weekly classes, we invite gentle, invitational, trauma-sensitive movement and mindful awareness for the first half hour before transitioning into exploring creative techniques such as collage, painting, or writing, etc. for the last hour.
No previous yoga or art experience necessary! The movement practice is open to all people regardless of age, gender identity, race, ethnicity, body type, and physical ability.*
All activities can be geared to the participants and their preferences. All activities are by invitation, not demand. For example, you may decide not to participate in the movement practice. Or, you may want to continue to explore movement on your own as others move into the art activity –it’s always your choice, and your choice is welcome!
More about the movement— The practice is based on TCTSY trauma-sensitive yoga, which invites the exploration of body-based yoga forms and breathing practices with invitational language. It emphasizes your internal experience, not on how a movement looks or “doing it right” for the facilitator or anyone else.
We believe each person is the expert of their own body, and there are no physical hands-on adjustments. All movement is invitational. Participants are welcome to use a chair or a mat as they prefer. The facilitator will reach out to new participants for a brief conversation to answer any questions about the movement portion of the class.
More about the art— Creating something without judgment or attachment to the outcome helps us build up the courage to be present and open while welcoming the unexpected because it can be hard being human! Movement and creative expression practices in a nonjudgmental environment can help with managing difficult feelings and stress, and supporting connection, self-compassion, insight, reflection, and agency.
All art supplies provided. We have limited extra mats for those interested in using them during our movement practice. You are welcome to bring your own if you would like. Chairs and cushions are available to all.
*PLEASE NOTE: Our studio space is only accessible by way of stairs with a railing. This is not a substitute for therapy, so please reach out to a therapist or medical provider if you are experiencing ongoing mental health challenges.
If this class is of interest to you but the time doesn’t fit into your schedule, please contact us via our website. Private individual sessions are available.
Deadline to register is by 5/16.

FACILITATORS: Daune Marie
—Collage illustrations courtesy of Linda K
Join us for a unique and transformational creative expression practice that fosters intuition, explores choice, and combines creative narrative writing with the option of including images in a way that matches your personal style. Exercise the freedom to experiment with all these options, perhaps to go outside your comfort zone to the growth edges!
This playshop offers a gentle, invitational approach to self-expression, allowing you to process and embrace all aspects of life, from the down right hard challenges to the deliriously happy stuff, and all that’s in between! Techniques and various styles will be demonstrated along with new weekly prompts to ignite your inner flame and use as a guiding light if you so choose. No matter what, this is your journey, and there’s no ‘wrong’ way to express yourself.
Feel free to bring a brown bag lunch or snacks if you want to “picnic” while you create, ponder, or wait for paint and glue to dry.
The cost of this class includes basic supplies. A variety of high-quality journals for mixed-media will also be available at an additional cost payable to the facilitator. You are welcome to bring your own as well. Please send us an email via CONTACT if you have any questions. Don’t let finances keep you from coming; instead, contact us about scholarship availability.

Monthly Mending Circle: RENEW—REINVENT—REVIVE
DATE: Monday, June 9th
TIME: 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM
FACILITATOR: Beth Adelsberger
Let’s gather to experience the joy of transforming materials and building new connections in our community mending circle. The process of mending is an opportunity to renew, reinvent and revive both our clothing and our spirits as we discover new potential in what already exists.
This month I will demonstrate the visible mending technique of sashiko embroidery, an easy style of hand stitching that uses straight lines and grids to create patterns. It is a useful technique for making patches to cover holes or stains, especially on jeans or other heavyweight fabrics. I will provide fabric samples and sewing supplies for practicing and making a patch using fabric from repurposed jeans. You can also bring your own mending project and join the circle for
conversation and inspiration.
What skills are required?
● No skills are necessary to attend.
● Whether you know how to sew or embroider or you want to learn new techniques for renewing textiles, this group is for you!
● You can experiment with the technique I am teaching or you can work on a mending project you bring with you.
Mending Manifesto
Mending is:
● Cherishing our clothing and textiles by repairing them or transforming them into new objects.
● Preserving our environment by re-using our existing resources rather than producing more textile waste and contributing to the fibershed.
● Using our hands to care for our “second skin” and nurturing the materials we inhabit.
● Tending to ourselves and our relationships as we gather together in a mending circle.
Please RSVP & Register by 6/7 so we can plan accordingly. If you missed the deadline, contact us to see if we can squeeze you in.

JOURNALING & COLLAGING COLLECTIVE: Writing & Artmaking Activities to Explore All That Life Brings
DATE: Tuesday, 6/10
TIME: 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM
FACILITATORS: Daune Marie
—Collage illustrations courtesy of Linda K
Join us for a unique and transformational creative expression practice that fosters intuition, explores choice, and combines creative narrative writing with the option of including images in a way that matches your personal style. Say it with words (and only words) through exclusive standard journaling and/or with added images in a visual art journal or larger collaged work of art.
For our planning purposes, the deadline to register is 6/8. If you have missed the deadline, please contact us to see if space is available. PLEASE NOTE: You must register to obtain the access code to the studio as we are in a secure building.

ZENTANGLE LABYRINTH COMBO: Walking a Labyrinth & Then Drawing One
DATE: Saturday, 6/28
TIME: 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM
FACILITATOR: Sue Trembeth & Pam Jameson
Take a relaxing, transformational journey in this unique, three-hour Zentangle-inspired class with a labyrinth theme. We’ll begin with a peaceful labyrinth walk, led by Pam Jameson, designed to foster self-reflection and mindfulness. Then, step into the studio with Sue Trembeth who will guide you in creating a beautiful labyrinth-inspired piece of art that symbolizes a path of inner wholeness and a pilgrimage toward your center. This experience promises to leave you feeling inspired and focused—an opportunity for personal growth through art and mindfulness.
You won’t want to miss this calming and creatively-enriching combo. Unlike a maze, a labyrinth has only one path, leading to the center and back out, with no dead ends or choices. Some people view the labyrinth walk as an experience with three stages: releasing on the way in, receiving in the center, and returning on the way out. This partners well with the 8 Basic Steps of Zentangle, another meditative and stress-reducing practice, that begins with and ends with Gratitude and Appreciation.
Please bring your Zentangle Kit to class if you have one. If you do not have one, you can purchase one from the facilitator for $15.00. Please send us an email via CONTACT if you have any questions. Don’t let finances keep you from coming, instead contact us about scholarship availability.

TIME: 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM
CO-FACILITATORS: Naila Francis and Daune Marie
As nature comes into bloom all around us, it can sometimes be challenging to carry our grief amid all the stirring signs of life. Some of us may push our grief to the margins, trying to avoid it with spring’s calls to joy and renewal. For some of us, our grief feels heavier, our heartache a dissonant reminder of loss in a season of rebirth. And some of us may be able to hold both, the beauty of the blossoming world and the sorrows that companion us. Wherever you are in the landscape of your grief, Harvesting Hope is an invitation to be with both the darkness and the light. To honor what’s been stirring these last few months in sorrow’s fertile ground and create space for what is ripening and wants to emerge.
Through guided meditation, journaling, and art-making, we’ll focus our attention on FEELING our way through our particular season of grief, listening deeply with our hearts for what we might be ready to welcome. For what feels a little more spacious, a little more possible, a little more like seeds of hope.
If finances are keeping you from coming, please contact us. We believe in the art of abundance and have an Art Angel Scholarship Fund to keep us in the flow state. (Donations to this fund are accepted and appreciated).
Limited seating. Please RSVP & Register by 5/15 so we can plan accordingly.

FACILITATOR: Emily Scheivert
ACTIVITY: Soul Conversations & Story Sharing
You are warmly invited to step into a sacred space of storytelling, creative exploration and community as we gather around the theme: Reclaiming Joy!
This circle is an invitation to remember the parts of ourselves that once danced freely, sang loudly and laughed from deep within. Joy lives in color and rhythm, in movement and stillness, in the stories we share and the truths we speak.
Together, we’ll explore:
What does joy look like in your life today?
How do we reclaim creativity, fun, and play when the world feels heavy?
What songs, art, or rituals bring us home to ourselves?
We’ll share stories, reflect, and together, explore how to gently open space in our lives for more JOY.
PLEASE BRING: A piece of music (ideally, available online for Bluetooth), art or poetry that represents joy to you. Let’s remember what lights us up — together.
Hearty salad selections will be served. Feel free to bring something to add to our salad bar, if you wish

A Monthly Mending Circle: RENEW—REINVENT—REVIVE
DATE: Monday, May 12
TIME: 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM
FACILITATOR: Beth Adelsberger
Let’s gather to experience the joy of transforming materials and building new connections in our community mending circle. The process of mending is an opportunity to renew both our clothing and our spirits as we discover new potential in what already exists.
What skills are required?
No skills are necessary to attend. Whether you know how to sew or embroider or you want to learn new techniques for renewing textiles, this group is for you!
Each meeting I will demonstrate a visible mending technique such as: darning, patching or sashiko embroidery. You can experiment with the new technique or work on whatever you bring with you.
What do I need to bring?
I will provide fabric samples and sewing supplies for practicing. If you would like, you can bring an item of clothing that has a hole, a stain, a worn edge, or could use a pocket. You could also bring any textile that you would like to reinvent as something new. If you are looking for inspiration, we can brainstorm together.
If finances are keeping you from coming, please contact us. We believe in the art of abundance and have an Art Angel Scholarship Fund to keep us in the flow state.

RE-IMAGINING MOTHER’S DAY: Embracing Diverse Experiences
DATE: Saturday, May 10th
TIME: 1:00PM - 2:30PM
FACILITATORS: Violet Sterling & Christine Coppa
Emotions surrounding Mother's Day often don't align with the "perfect" images portrayed in commercials and ads. Life experiences are more diverse than the traditional celebration of biological mothers, especially for those with challenging or estranged relationships, the loss of a mother or child, infertility, or unmet expectations. For many, this day can be... well, difficult, to say the least.
In this workshop, we'll broaden the definition of "Mother" and approach the day with empathy, compassion, and understanding. "It takes a village," and we’ll create a sacred space to honor those—regardless of gender or relationship—who have inspired us. We'll also hold space for any heartaches related to motherhood that have shaped who we are today. Through crafting cards, candles, and a mini ceremony, you'll create meaningful keepsakes to solemnize Mother's Day in a way that promotes inclusivity and respect. Our wish is that this workshop leaves you with a renewed, hopeful perspective for the days ahead.
If finances are keeping you from coming, please contact us. We believe in the art of abundance and have an Art Angel Scholarship Fund to keep us in the flow state.

Blessing the Wound
DATE: Sunday, May 4, 2025
TIME: 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM
CO-FACILITATORS: Naila Francis and Daune Marie
So often in our culture, grief is viewed as something to be fixed, to be met with strategy and formula. We long for some guarantee that if we follow a prescribed path or a series of stages, we’ll get over it. And we judge ourselves if we’re not where we think we should be, if we’re still struggling while the world carries on oblivious to our heartache. But there is no right or wrong way to grieve. What this very human, nonlinear experience wants from us is our own compassion, our patience and presence, a witnessing that allows us to feel less alone and assures us we are anything but broken.
“Blessing the Wound” is an invitation to explore our grief from this gentle place. To meet our sorrowing hearts as they are, with all they hold. Turning toward our inner nurturer instead of our inner critic to help us tend the ache we carry.
In this workshop, we will make space to honor and express our grief through journaling, guided meditation, group sharing and art-making. Together we’ll not only create a beautiful community container to help us soften into our grief but you’ll leave with an actual container — a beautiful blessing bowl — to remind you that you are worthy of your own compassion and tenderness as you walk your journey.
If finances are keeping you from coming, please contact us. We believe in the art of abundance and have an Art Angel Scholarship Fund to keep us in the flow state. (Donations to this fund are accepted and appreciated).
Limited seating. Please RSVP & Register by 5/2 so we can plan accordingly.

The Art of Embodiment - Movement, Mindfulness, & Creative Flow
DATE: Sunday, May 4, 2025
TIME: 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM
Deadline to register is by 5/2.

The Art of Embodiment - Movement, Mindfulness, & Creative Flow
DATE: Sunday, April 27, 2025
Deadline to register is by 4/25.
