Join us for a gentle, trauma-sensitive yoga practice followed by mindful creative expression in this embodiment workshop. The first half hour will guide you through invitational movement and breathing, with an emphasis on listening to your own body. The second half invites you into a meditative art-making experience, encouraging creative expression in a non-judgmental space. Some examples of past creative expressive practices have included intuitive collage, nature mandalas, and touch drawings.

No prior yoga or art experience necessary!—just an open mind and willingness to explore your creative flow. This workshop is open to all people regardless of age, gender identity, race, ethnicity, body type, and physical ability.*

Everything is optional: feel free to engage in the movement, art, or both—your choice, your pace. We emphasize self-compassion and non-attachment to the outcome, letting creativity unfold naturally. This is a space for self-connection, nonjudgmental exploration, and the growth of agency.

The movement practice is based on TCTSY trauma-sensitive yoga, focused on internal awareness, breath, and movement rather than external performance. We believe that you are the expert of your own body. All activities are designed with your preferences in mind, and there are no physical hands-on adjustments. Chairs, cushions, and limited mats are available. You’re welcome to bring your own mat if desired.

The facilitator will reach out to new participants for a brief conversation to answer any questions about the movement portion of the workshop. All art supplies are provided.

Monthly Discussion & Creative Expression Experience

Join us every month for a supportive gathering where adult adoptees come to connect with others and express themselves through various creative outlets. This collective provides a safe-space for shared experiences, support, and healing, drawing on the unique emotional landscape of an adoptee which can include matters of the heart related to loss, guilt, rejection, identity, and relationships.

What to Expect

• Purpose—Find connection with other adult adoptees and foster a sense of community, reducing the feelings of isolation and building confidence through safe and supportive art-making experiences.

• Activities—Engage in creative activities like writing and visual arts, and more to explore and process themes related to your adoption experience. Sharing with others is optional and not required.

• Benefits—Gain a sense of agency, self-understanding, and connection both with yourself and others who share similar backgrounds.

Finding Rhythm in Nature

Connect with nature as we paint calming mandala designs on natural stones. Earth Mandalas is a meditative mandala‑making session inspired by natural elements and organic symmetry. This class invites you to slow down, observe nature’s rhythms, and translate them into circular, grounding designs.

Using earthy palettes and intuitive dotting techniques, participants will create mandalas that reflect balance, nourishment, and steady cycles. This session emphasizes repetition, calm focus, and trust in the process—allowing the mandala to unfold naturally rather than striving for perfection.

Techniques We’ll Explore

• Radial pattern building using dots and simple shapes

• Organic symmetry inspired by stones, rings, bark, and growth patterns

• Layering color gently to create depth and movement

Say it with words (and only words) through exclusive standard journaling and/or with added images in a visual art journal or larger collaged work of art. Exercise the freedom to experiment with all these options, perhaps to go outside your comfort zone to the growth edges!

This playshop offers a gentle, invitational approach to self-expression, allowing you to process and embrace all aspects of life, from the down right hard challenges to the deliriously happy stuff, and all that’s in between! Techniques and various styles will be demonstrated along with new weekly prompts to ignite your inner flame and use as a guiding light if you so choose. No matter what, this is your journey, and there’s no ‘wrong’ way to express yourself.

Feel free to bring a brown bag lunch or snacks if you want to “picnic” while you create, ponder, or wait for paint and glue to dry.

Join us to learn the ancient art form of Kintsugi. Kintsugi means “to join with gold” in which a piece of broken pottery is repaired, and the cracks are sealed with gold lacquer. This art practice has been around since the 15th century and has recently regained popularity. You will have the opportunity to experience the process of Kintsugi first-hand from breaking you bowl to creating a new, painted bowl that will be both uniquely yours and which can serve as a nice decorative and conversational piece.

Along with the opportunity for creative expression, you will learn the basic philosophy and principles behind Kintsugi and Wabi-Sabi. Kintsugi embraces the imperfections in life and oneself, encouraging instead self-acceptance. Wabi-Sabi finds beauty in this imperfection, recognizes change and the impermanent nature of life.

Gain appreciation towards how objects and this art form parallel life; where beauty, value and strength can come from something broken and imperfect.

Kinusaiga is a contemplative Japanese art form with textiles. Fabric scraps are pressed into grooves on foam board to create painterly scenes—no sewing or experience required. This art form is suitable for all skill levels and focuses on upcycling, creativity, and personal expression. In this adult workshop, you’ll explore color, texture, and composition while working slowly and intentionally with fabric.

This class is welcoming to all skill levels and emphasizes mindfulness, sustainability, and creative exploration. Using upcycled fabrics, you’ll design and complete an 8”×10” Kinusaiga artwork inspired by nature, or simple shapes.

All materials are provided, and guidance is offered step‑by‑step in a calm, supportive environment.

Kinusaiga is more than a textile technique—it is a reflection of Japanese cultural values and the philosophy of wabi-sabi. By transforming discarded fabrics into beautiful, meaningful art, Kinusaiga invites us to appreciate imperfection, resourcefulness, and the natural flow of life.

Outcome

By the end of the class, participants will have a finished Kinusaiga artwork, an appreciation for Japanese textile arts, and the skills to continue to explore this technique at home.

Join us to learn the ancient art form of Kintsugi. Kintsugi means “to join with gold” in which a piece of broken pottery is repaired, and the cracks are sealed with gold lacquer. This art practice has been around since the 15th century and has recently regained popularity. You will have the opportunity to experience the process of Kintsugi first-hand and create your own painted bowl that will be both uniquely yours and which can serve as a nice decorative and conversational piece.

Along with the opportunity for creative expression, you will learn the basic philosophy and principles behind Kintsugi and Wabi Sabi. Kintsugi embraces the imperfections in life and oneself, encouraging instead self-acceptance. Wabi-Sabi finds beauty in this imperfection, recognizes change and the impermanent nature of life.

This is a two-part series with a special focus on anxiety and/or perfectionism. In this experiential learning process, you will have the opportunity to creatively work on letting go of anxiety and expectations in repairing your bowl. Supportive techniques will be provided to assist you through the process.

You will leave with an enhanced appreciation towards how objects and this art form parallel life; where beauty, value and strength can come from something broken and imperfect.

Among the artists we’ll be singing along with are The Partridge Family, Jackson 5, Barry Manilow, Bee Gees, ABBA, The Carpenters, Tony Orlando and Dawn, Donny Osmond, Gladys Knight & the Pips — and plenty of your other favorite ’70s hits.

As the playlist rolls, you’ll paint, collage, and explore bold, graphic color in a relaxed studio setting — channeling that bold, graphic ’70s pop-art style. Peace signs, hearts, patterns, layered imagery — wherever your imagination leads. There’s no wrong way to create. Just music, color, and a room full of art materials. And yes — brunch will be served so you can munch, while you make and mingle.

Workshop Description

Join us for a creative and relaxing experience where you’ll design and craft a vibrant stained-glass mosaic on an 8” x 8” clear glass block. Templates will be provided for those who don’t want to freestyle. Once finished, your piece can be used as a vase or lit from within using fairy lights, transforming it into a glowing work of art – perfect as a gift or a striking “all occasions” decoration for your home or office.

No prior experience is necessary! We will provide the tools and begin with the basics of glass safety and design. Next we’ll guide you through creating your own work of art. Several glass colors and combos will be available to choose your own preferred color palette. Once assembled the entire mosaic will be grouted to complete the project before you take it home.

Join us for a unique and transformational creative expression practice that fosters intuition, explores choice, and combines creative narrative writing with the option of including images in a way that matches your personal style. Say it with words (and only words) through exclusive standard journaling and/or with added images in a visual art journal or larger collaged work of art. Exercise the freedom to experiment with all these options, perhaps to go outside your comfort zone to the growth edges!

This playshop offers a gentle, invitational approach to self-expression, allowing you to process and embrace all aspects of life, from the down right hard challenges to the deliriously happy stuff, and all that’s in between! Techniques and various styles will be demonstrated along with new weekly prompts to ignite your inner flame and use as a guiding light if you so choose. No matter what, this is your journey, and there’s no ‘wrong’ way to express yourself.

Feel free to bring a brown bag lunch or snacks if you want to “picnic” while you create, ponder, or wait for paint and glue to dry.

Join us for a gentle, trauma-sensitive yoga practice followed by mindful creative expression in this embodiment workshop. The first half hour will guide you through invitational movement and breathing, with an emphasis on listening to your own body. The second half invites you into a meditative art-making experience, encouraging creative expression in a non-judgmental space. Some examples of past creative expressive practices have included intuitive collage, nature mandalas, and touch drawings.

No prior yoga or art experience necessary!—just an open mind and willingness to explore your creative flow. This workshop is open to all people regardless of age, gender identity, race, ethnicity, body type, and physical ability.*

Everything is optional: feel free to engage in the movement, art, or both—your choice, your pace. We emphasize self-compassion and non-attachment to the outcome, letting creativity unfold naturally. This is a space for self-connection, nonjudgmental exploration, and the growth of agency.

The movement practice is based on TCTSY trauma-sensitive yoga, focused on internal awareness, breath, and movement rather than external performance. We believe that you are the expert of your own body. All activities are designed with your preferences in mind, and there are no physical hands-on adjustments. Chairs, cushions, and limited mats are available. You’re welcome to bring your own mat if desired.

The facilitator will reach out to new participants for a brief conversation to answer any questions about the movement portion of the workshop. All art supplies are provided.

Join us for a unique and transformational creative expression practice that fosters intuition, explores choice, and combines creative narrative writing with the option of including images in a way that matches your personal style. Say it with words (and only words) through exclusive standard journaling and/or with added images in a visual art journal or larger collaged work of art. Exercise the freedom to experiment with all these options, perhaps to go outside your comfort zone to the growth edges!

This playshop offers a gentle, invitational approach to self-expression, allowing you to process and embrace all aspects of life, from the down right hard challenges to the deliriously happy stuff, and all that’s in between! Techniques and various styles will be demonstrated along with new weekly prompts to ignite your inner flame and use as a guiding light if you so choose. No matter what, this is your journey, and there’s no ‘wrong’ way to express yourself.

Feel free to bring a brown bag lunch or snacks if you want to “picnic” while you create, ponder, or wait for paint and glue to dry.

The cost of this class includes basic supplies. A variety of high-quality journals for mixed-media will also be available at an additional cost payable to the facilitator. In this Mixed Media workshop, choice is at the heart of the process. We believe everyone has a unique creative voice, so we offer an expansive selection of materials for your project and suggest that you bring your own “love language” message that you may want to incorporate into your finished piece.

What You’ll Learn:

• 🎨 Acrylic Painting: Master basic techniques or sharpen your existing "brush" skills.

• 📜 Decoupage: Learn the art of layering to create stunning, textured designs.

• ✨ Personal Expression: Create a unique masterpiece inspired by our facilitator (or bring your own vision or reference photo!).

Looking for a way to unwind from stress, focus your thoughts, or explore your creative side? In this class you will learn the basics of Zentangle’s creative and relaxing method of art. By using this method, easy-to-learn repetitive patterns (called tangles) and deliberate pen strokes, you will create an abstract piece of art while entering into a relaxed and meditative state. You do NOT need to know how to draw or have previous Zentangle experience! Zentangle has the potential to deliver artistic satisfaction and an increased sense of personal well-being.

Join us for a unique and transformational creative expression practice that fosters intuition, explores choice, and combines creative narrative writing with the option of including images in a way that matches your personal style. Say it with words (and only words) through exclusive standard journaling and/or with added images in a visual art journal or larger collaged work of art. Exercise the freedom to experiment with all these options, perhaps to go outside your comfort zone to the growth edges!

This playshop offers a gentle, invitational approach to self-expression, allowing you to process and embrace all aspects of life, from the down right hard challenges to the deliriously happy stuff, and all that’s in between! Techniques and various styles will be demonstrated along with new weekly prompts to ignite your inner flame and use as a guiding light if you so choose. No matter what, this is your journey, and there’s no ‘wrong’ way to express yourself.

Step into a peaceful space where creativity and nature meet. We’ll start by getting cozy with our traditional tools—Marla will walk you through the unique brushes and inks that make this style so special. You’ll learn the three essential strokes to bring bamboo to life: the sturdy "bone" stroke for the stalks, the delicate "hook" strokes, and the graceful movement of the leaves.

We’ll begin our journey in monochrome, exploring the surprising depth and variety of black ink while painting a quiet winter scene. From there, we’ll introduce color to capture the changing energy of spring, summer, and fall. We’ll end the session with a mini-gallery studio walk to admire everyone’s work as the paintings dry. Life is full of things that rise and fall, flourish and decay, bloom, wither and die away. Local author Cynthia Rafetto Kreilick uses her book The Rise and Fall of Sandcastle Town to explore how we care for people and things in times of vitality and decline, and how we process the emotions that grip us. Cynthia wrote The Rise and Fall of Sandcastle Town as a tribute and a catharsis, watching her elderly mother and her home of 62 years decline with age. Her daughter, Alyssa Kreilick, a graduate of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA), illustrated the story. Following the reading and discussion, participants create artwork, using mixed media, that prompt conversation about their own tools for processing grief and healing the heart. Participants receive a complimentary copy of Cynthia and Alyssa’s book.

Join us for a unique and transformational creative expression practice that fosters intuition, explores choice, and combines creative narrative writing with the option of including images in a way that matches your personal style. Say it with words (and only words) through exclusive standard journaling and/or with added images in a visual art journal or larger collaged work of art. Exercise the freedom to experiment with all these options, perhaps to go outside your comfort zone to the growth edges!

This playshop offers a gentle, invitational approach to self-expression, allowing you to process and embrace all aspects of life, from the down right hard challenges to the deliriously happy stuff, and all that’s in between! Techniques and various styles will be demonstrated along with new weekly prompts to ignite your inner flame and use as a guiding light if you so choose. No matter what, this is your journey, and there’s no ‘wrong’ way to express yourself.

Feel free to bring a brown bag lunch or snacks if you want to “picnic” while you create, ponder, or wait for paint and glue to dry.

The cost of this class includes basic supplies. A variety of high-quality journals for mixed-media will also be available at an additional cost payable to the facilitator. This is your chance to experience visually crossing the border into new territory…kind of like coloring outside the lines, freeing your imagination, and/or reframing what might have fallen off the plate.

When a treasured, decorative dish breaks, it can be viewed a both tragic and transformative. Inspired by the work of artist Robert Strati, we will use fragmented pieces of a broken patterned dish like “puzzle pieces”, then paint or draw extensions of their imagined references onto a new surface, creating a new narrative from the shattered scene.

All levels of ability are welcome as this is a process-oriented experience. We will have a variety of patterned chipped dishes to chose from, or feel free to bring your own.

Discover the meditative and timeless art of Asian Brush Painting. In this welcoming, hands-on workshop, we will explore the delicate harmony of the natural world by learning to capture the elegance of camellia flowers and the playful spirit of butterflies and dragonflies.

Whether you are a seasoned artist or picking up a brush for the first time, this session offers a peaceful space to create, learn, and connect.

What We’ll Explore Together

• The Four Treasures: We’ll begin by getting to know our traditional tools—the specific brushes and ink that give this art form its soul.

• The Language of Strokes: You’ll be guided through the three essential brush strokes that form the foundation of every painting. You'll have plenty of time to play and find your rhythm with the ink.

• Bringing Nature to Life:

  • Learn the secrets to painting soft, blooming camellias.

  • Master the light, sweeping movements needed for butterflies and dragonflies.

• Your Final Masterpiece: Using your new skills, you’ll compose a beautiful, cohesive painting on rice paper that brings all these elements together.

We’ll wrap up the day with a gentle "gallery walk" around the studio to admire each other's work and celebrate the unique "Qi"—or life force—each person brought to their paper.

Join us for a gentle, trauma-sensitive yoga practice followed by mindful creative expression in this embodiment workshop. The first half hour will guide you through invitational movement and breathing, with an emphasis on listening to your own body. The second half invites you into a meditative art-making experience, encouraging creative expression in a non-judgmental space. Some examples of past creative expressive practices have included intuitive collage, nature mandalas, and touch drawings.

No prior yoga or art experience necessary!—just an open mind and willingness to explore your creative flow. This workshop is open to all people regardless of age, gender identity, race, ethnicity, body type, and physical ability.*

Everything is optional: feel free to engage in the movement, art, or both—your choice, your pace. We emphasize self-compassion and non-attachment to the outcome, letting creativity unfold naturally. This is a space for self-connection, nonjudgmental exploration, and the growth of agency.

The movement practice is based on TCTSY trauma-sensitive yoga, focused on internal awareness, breath, and movement rather than external performance. We believe that you are the expert of your own body. All activities are designed with your preferences in mind, and there are no physical hands-on adjustments. Chairs, cushions, and limited mats are available. You’re welcome to bring your own mat if desired.

The facilitator will reach out to new participants for a brief conversation to answer any questions about the movement portion of the workshop. All art supplies are provided.

Welcome to the wonderful world of the shekere! This versatile percussion instrument, originating from West Africa, is made from a dried gourd covered with a net of beads. It produces a unique rattling and shaking sound that can add incredible texture and rhythm to any musical setting.

In this lesson, we'll cover the fundamentals to get you started including: holding the shekere, basic sounds, and a few introductory rhythms.

Although she doesn’t consider herself the most accomplished artist or musician, Tami has a deep passion for rhythm. For years, she made the weekly trek to NYC to study with the inspiring African percussionist Madeleine Yayodele Nelson. This transformative experience now fuels her desire to share the shekere and what she learned from Madeleine with others who may benefit from its creation and unique sounds.

Join us for a unique and transformational creative expression practice that fosters intuition, explores choice, and combines creative narrative writing with the option of including images in a way that matches your personal style. Say it with words (and only words) through exclusive standard journaling and/or with added images in a visual art journal or larger collaged work of art. Exercise the freedom to experiment with all these options, perhaps to go outside your comfort zone to the growth edges!

This playshop offers a gentle, invitational approach to self-expression, allowing you to process and embrace all aspects of life, from the down right hard challenges to the deliriously happy stuff, and all that’s in between! Techniques and various styles will be demonstrated along with new weekly prompts to ignite your inner flame and use as a guiding light if you so choose. No matter what, this is your journey, and there’s no ‘wrong’ way to express yourself.

Feel free to bring a brown bag lunch or snacks if you want to “picnic” while you create, ponder, or wait for paint and glue to dry.

This is your chance to experience visually crossing the border into new territory…kind of like coloring outside the lines, freeing your imagination, and/or reframing what might have fallen off the plate.

When a treasured, decorative dish breaks, it can be viewed a both tragic and transformative. Inspired by the work of artist Robert Strati, we will use fragmented pieces of a broken patterned dish like “puzzle pieces”, then paint or draw extensions of their imagined references onto a new surface, creating a new narrative from the shattered scene.

All levels of ability are welcome as this is a process-oriented experience. We will have a variety of patterned chipped dishes to chose from, or feel free to bring your own.

Workshop Description

Create your own unique, handcrafted fused glass vase in this engaging 4-hour workshop. Perfect for both candle displays and flower arrangements, these versatile pieces will add a personal touch to any space. No prior glass experience is required, as the basics will be covered before the hands-on session begins.

What to Expect

• No Experience Necessary: A basic overview of glass handling and cutting will be provided.

• Design Your Vision: Bring your own inspiration (pictures of flowers, animals, etc.) or utilize provided templates.

• Materials Provided: A variety of glass colors and cutting tools will be available for use during the class to help you create a unique color palette.

• Finished Product: Your finished vase will be ready for pick-up within 7 to 10 days after the workshop to allow for the necessary kiln firing and cooling process.

Join us every month for a supportive gathering where adult adoptees come to connect with others and express themselves through various creative outlets. This collective provides a safe-space for shared experiences, support, and healing, drawing on the unique emotional landscape of an adoptee which can include matters of the heart related to loss, guilt, rejection, identity, and relationships.

What to Expect

• Purpose—Find connection with other adult adoptees and foster a sense of community, reducing the feelings of isolation and building confidence through safe and supportive art-making experiences.

• Activities—Engage in creative activities like writing and visual arts, and more to explore and process themes related to your adoption experience. Sharing with others is optional and not required.

Join us for a unique and transformational creative expression practice that fosters intuition, explores choice, and combines creative narrative writing with the option of including images in a way that matches your personal style. Say it with words (and only words) through exclusive standard journaling and/or with added images in a visual art journal or larger collaged work of art. Exercise the freedom to experiment with all these options, perhaps to go outside your comfort zone to the growth edges!

This playshop offers a gentle, invitational approach to self-expression, allowing you to process and embrace all aspects of life, from the down right hard challenges to the deliriously happy stuff, and all that’s in between! Techniques and various styles will be demonstrated along with new weekly prompts to ignite your inner flame and use as a guiding light if you so choose. No matter what, this is your journey, and there’s no ‘wrong’ way to express yourself.

Feel free to bring a brown bag lunch or snacks if you want to “picnic” while you create, ponder, or wait for paint and glue to dry.

Unearth hidden stories and unleash your creativity, exploring old texts through a new lens in this immersive, multi-session workshop series. We will be guided through the process of taking a discarded hardcover book and transforming it into a one-of-a-kind, mixed-media masterpiece. Part collage, part book art, this series explores how to manipulate existing pages to create a personal journal, a visual memoir, or a sculptural art object.

Unearth hidden stories and unleash your creativity, exploring old texts through a new lens in this immersive, multi-session workshop series. We will be guided through the process of taking a discarded hardcover book and transforming it into a one-of-a-kind, mixed-media masterpiece. Part collage, part book art, this series explores how to manipulate existing pages to create a personal journal, a visual memoir, or a sculptural art object.

AGE-RELATED REQUIREMENTS: Ages 18+

THEMES: Grandparenting; Parenting; Nurturing Children and Ourselves

In this 2-hour workshop, we look at the lives of children and the ways in which we nurture both children and ourselves. Participants read excerpts from The Year of Knitting and Puzzles and reflect on issues like self-confidence, identify, safety, and socialization. Cynthia worked in the field of early childhood education for 30 years, and invites participants to share their own experiences, as parents and grandparents, based on the readings. The second half of the workshop is devoted to creating artwork or written work, which exemplifies the qualities we wish to promote in our children and grandchildren and the environment we need to create to make this happen. Participants receive a complimentary copy of the book The Year of Knitting and Puzzles.

Looking for a way to unwind from stress, focus your thoughts, or explore your creative side? In this class you will learn the basics of Zentangle’s creative and relaxing method of art. By using this method, easy-to-learn repetitive patterns (called tangles) and deliberate pen strokes, you will create an abstract piece of art while entering into a relaxed and meditative state. You do NOT need to know how to draw or have previous Zentangle experience! Zentangle has the potential to deliver artistic satisfaction and an increased sense of personal well-being.

Please bring your Zentangle Kit to class if you have one. If you do not have one, you can purchase one from the facilitator for $15.00.

An additional $25 materials fee will be collected at the class, payable to the facilitator.

It’s that time of year when brooms are in season. You can’t fly around on these, but you can clean up your messes or give them as gifts.. For centuries brooms have filled multiple needs such as function, ritual and decoration. Join in the fun of this heritage handicrafts and make 2 whisk brooms, a traditional Appalachian turkey wing and a hawk wing. We will be using authentic broomcorn to make our brooms. To practice we will begin with a small broom for dusting crumbs off the table, cleaning mushrooms or silk from corn. This will give you a sense of what it’s like to wrap a broom tightly, so it does not come apart. Next you will move on to the more complex brooms. We will be using fall colors to wrap the brooms.

Please note that moderate hand and wrist strength is a must for this class.
