12/7 – THE ART OF EMBODIMENT—Movement, Mindfulness, & Creative Flow
DATE: Sunday, 12/7
TIME: 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM
FACILITATOR: Ashley Sonson
Join us for a gentle, trauma-sensitive yoga practice followed by mindful creative expression in this embodiment workshop. The first half hour will guide you through invitational movement and breathing, with an emphasis on listening to your own body. The second half invites you into a meditative art-making experience, encouraging creative expression in a non-judgmental space.
No prior yoga or art experience necessary!—just an open mind and willingness to explore your creative flow. This workshop is open to all people regardless of age, gender identity, race, ethnicity, body type, and physical ability.*
Everything is optional: feel free to engage in the movement, art, or both—your choice, your pace. We emphasize self-compassion and non-attachment to the outcome, letting creativity unfold naturally. This is a space for self-connection, nonjudgmental exploration, and the growth of agency.
The movement practice is based on TCTSY trauma-sensitive yoga, focused on internal awareness, breath, and movement rather than external performance. We believe that you are the expert of your own body. All activities are designed with your preferences in mind, and there are no physical hands-on adjustments. Chairs, cushions, and limited mats are available. You’re welcome to bring your own mat if desired.
The facilitator will reach out to new participants for a brief conversation to answer any questions about the movement portion of the workshop. All art supplies are provided.
Please register by 12/5. If you have missed the deadline, please contact us to see if space is available.
*PLEASE NOTE: This is not a substitute for therapy, so please reach out to a therapist or medical provider if you are experiencing ongoing mental health challenges. You must register to obtain the access code to the studio as we are in a secure building. Our studio space is only accessible by way of stairs with a railing.
If finances are keeping you from coming, please contact us. We believe in the art of abundance and have an Art Angel Scholarship Fund to keep us in the flow state.
