DATE: Wednesday, 10/15
TIME: 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM
FACILITATOR: Ashley Sonson
Step onto the tranquil arboretum grounds of St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church, and let the landscape guide you inward. Each month at Blooming Peace, we blend a mindful outdoor walk with a hands‑on nature-based expressive art practice, turning the sights, sounds, and sensations of nature into a personal creative practice.
Who? - Anyone seeking a deeper connection to body, mind, and the natural world is welcome. The space is inclusive and rooted in the belief that nature’s rhythms can help us attune to our own.
Cultivate:
Embodied Awareness – Notice breath, sensations, emotions, in a supportive, mindful setting.
Mind‑Body Flow – Channel the experience of your outdoor exploration directly into a piece of expressive art.
Creative Renewal – Using natural materials sparks fresh ideas and playful experimentation
Community & Belonging – Shared walks and studio time foster genuine connections
Increased Well‑Being – Research shows that mindful exposure to green-space combined with artistic expression can reduce stress and lift mood.
How the session flows
Centering Moment –brief guided meditation that grounds you in the body and opens the senses.
Exploratory Nature Walk – Wander the arboretum in community with others, sharing thoughts or simply soaking in the beauty of the scenery. Solo moments are encouraged for quiet reflection and gathering natural inspiration (leaves, twigs, stones, feathers, etc.).
Studio Creation – Back in Blooming Peace’s bright studio, you’ll transform any collected elements and/or studio supplies into the month’s themed expressive‑arts project. All materials, tools, and guidance are provided.
Closing Circle – Share insights, reflect, and celebrate each other’s work.
Changing Monthly Theme – Each session introduces a new nature‑based project that reflects the season’s energy.
Rain or Shine – Inclement weather shifts the event indoors while preserving the spirit of the walk. Comfortable, sturdy shoes, water, and layered clothing are recommended.
October Theme – “Seasonal Looms”
This month we’ll weave nature looms using found branches, grasses, bark, feathers, and any personal objects you’ve gathered (in addition to studio supplies). The loom is a living metaphor for what you’d like to invite into this season—growth, gratitude, renewal, or any intention that calls to you.
