"Painting with paper" is a specialized, fine-art style of collage. While standard collage often combines unrelated cut-out images or flat papers to create a composition, painting with paper focuses on using hand-torn, textured, or translucent papers specifically like brushstrokes of paint. Artists, like Gail, blend colors, build gradients, and layer organic fibers to mimic the depth, shading, and texture of a traditional oil or watercolor painting.
Whether you are an experienced painter looking for a fresh medium or a beginner eager to explore texture and color, this class offers a relaxed, inspiring space to explore a unique art form. All materials are included, along with a special invitation to bring any personal papers with you that you might want to incorporate into your unique piece.

Paper Manipulation: Techniques for tearing, cutting, and shaping different paper weights to mimic brushstrokes.
Color Blending: How to layer translucent and fibrous papers to achieve beautiful gradients, highlights, and shadows.
Composition & Depth: Strategies for planning your layout and building layers from background to foreground.
