Step into a cozy creative space where coffee becomes both muse and medium. This workshop invites beginners to explore art journaling for the first time and offers experienced journalers a chance to reconnect with foundational techniques in a relaxed, inspiring atmosphere.

Class Description

Brewed coffee transforms into art through washes, drips, rings, and splatters that create beautifully unpredictable textures in shades of cream, caramel, and deep roast. Once dry, you’ll layer simple line drawings, collage, and reflective writing inspired by comfort, ritual, and the small moments that help us slow down.

The process encourages mindfulness and playful experimentation—perfect for those learning to let go of perfection or seeking fresh inspiration for their established practice.

Art journaling offers a flexible, meaningful way to document your days, reflect on your thoughts, notice gratitude, and build a creative routine that fits your life.

During the session, you’ll explore easy journaling rhythms—daily, weekly, or monthly—and experiment with pens, paints, collage papers, and more. Each page becomes an opportunity to discover your style, whether you’re just beginning or refining your artistic voice.

This workshop also nurtures a growing community of journalers—like a book club for images, words, and reflection—where participants share ideas, learn from one another, and find inspiration in the many ways people use their journals to record everyday experiences and creative discoveries.

What to Bring

Please bring any journal or sketchbook you enjoy using—lined, blank, or dot grid, in any size that feels comfortable. You may bring one from home or purchase a multimedia journal in class if you would like thicker paper for paint and collage.

Autumn Magic: Witch Hat & Fall Form Mandalas

CLASS DESCRIPTION

Celebrate the playful beauty of October by creating a mandala dot design on a wooden witch hat or another fall-shaped surface, such as a leaf or acorn. Students will choose a shape and build a design that follows its contours, using layered dots, curved borders, and seasonal motifs. Each artist may choose either a bold neon color palette or a traditional fall palette of pumpkin, deep burgundy, plum, antique gold, cream, and olive green. This beginner-friendly class introduces techniques for adapting mandala patterns to nontraditional shapes while leaving plenty of room for personal style.

MATERIALS

• Wooden witch hat or choice of fall-shaped blank, such as a leaf or acorn

• Braid or twist string to hang your finished project.

• Acrylic paint—neon option: electric pink, bright yellow, lime green, vivid orange, and turquoise; fall option: pumpkin, deep burgundy, plum, antique gold, cream, burnt orange, olive green, and black

• Full dot tool set to use with a variety of sizes

• Chalk pencil, ruler, and flexible stencil for placement guides

• Sealer or varnish will be applied once dry and piece can be picked up within 48 hours.

Spend the afternoon with Gail, and find beauty in your own creativity. Sign up for this artful experience and join a relaxing atmosphere where all skill levels are welcome and you are invited to choose between a canvas or a craft.

Learn or "brush" up on basic techniques of acrylic painting or how to master decoupage by layering it up! Participants will have the opportunity to create a piece of artwork all their own with inspiration from the facilitator.  Feel free to bring a picture that inspires you as well if you want.

Materials, including an upcycled canvas or an item to decoupage on, acrylic paint, napkins, glue, and brushes, will be provided. Feel free to bring your own supplies if you have them.

Art Journaling Collective: A Gentle Beginning for New and Experienced Journalers

Curious about art journaling but not sure where to begin? This welcoming introductory workshop is designed for absolute beginners as well as anyone who feels unsure, intimidated, or “not artistic.” Experienced journalers are also welcome to join and reconnect with the basics in a relaxed, supportive setting.

Through simple, step-by-step prompts, you’ll explore approachable techniques using paper, color, lines, marks, words, and images. No drawing skill is required, and there is no pressure to make anything perfect. The focus is on creative exploration, personal expression, and learning to enjoy the process.

Art journaling can offer a flexible and meaningful way to document your days, reflect on your thoughts, notice moments of gratitude, reduce stress, and build a creative routine that fits your life.

During the workshop, you’ll learn easy practices for daily, weekly, or monthly journaling and experiment with materials such as pens, paints, collage papers, and more. Each page becomes an opportunity to explore, play, and discover your own style.

The workshop also creates space for a growing collective of journalers—much like a book club, but centered on images, words, memory, and reflection. Participants can share ideas, learn from one another’s approaches, and find inspiration in the many ways people use their journals to record everyday experiences, creative discoveries, and gratitude.

Join us for a warm, luminous evening of mindful mandala dot painting inspired by the Harvest Moon — the full moon that rises near the autumn equinox and has long been associated with abundance, gratitude, completion, and seasonal turning.

In this beginner-friendly class, you’ll paint a glowing moon-inspired mandala on a dark blue journal cover using amber, harvest gold, rust, honey, cream, warm white, and charcoal tones. We’ll build the design slowly from a luminous center outward, creating rings of color that feel like moonlight rising over late-summer fields.

No prior painting experience is needed. You’ll receive step-by-step guidance in dot painting technique, color placement, spacing, and finishing details so you can relax into the process and enjoy creating something beautiful.
